As the end of 2020 nears, there is still time for one last burst of energy so that your business can finish strong and enter the new year with renewed energy and motivation.
1. Set new goals
The end of the year, particularly this year, can feel heavy and tiring to most people. It has been a very unusual year to say the least, and your mind and body have probably been working overtime and in a heightened state of alert during most months of the year.
You might be tempted to just rest until 2021 comes around, but remember that the more you relax, the harder it is to get back into full throttle at the start of next year.
To renew your motivation, it is important that you think about what you would like to achieve during the final months of 2020. End of year goals can be as huge or as small as you like, as long as they are realistic and get you excited about your business during the holiday season.
2. Review your budget
2020 was all about fighting fires, improvising, adapting, and alarms going off everywhere. This way of operating is less likely to be reflected in an orderly manner on your budget, so now that things have quieted down just a bit it is important to take this time and review that budget and reallocate funding as needed. Now that you have a clearer picture of what your business needs to invest on in 2021 (like disposable facemasks, sanitizing gel, plexiglass barriers, etc) make sure all that is reflected in your plan for next year, look for new suppliers, and negotiate better deals.
3. Prioritize your wellbeing
You’ve been through quite a lot this year. The high stress levels you experienced during 2020 have probably taken a toll on your mental health, that is why it is very important that you make your wellbeing a priority. This will be different for each person and there are many ways to go about this. You can start meditating, hit the gym, join a (socially distanced) book club, go to a therapy session, try a sonic healing session, start painting, or pick up any activity that reenergizes your mind, body, and soul.
4. Go with the flow
Instead of trying to fight change, learn to fully embrace it. Some shifts in your life will be temporary, while some others might be here to stay. It is difficult to foresee which is which and that is why it is very important to accept that things have changed and just go with the flow. Holding on to what once was is a waste of energy.
5. Be mindful
Even though the whole world has gone through a similar process during 2020, this doesn’t mean that everybody experienced exactly the same things. The pandemic has affected each person differently, so it is important to be mindful about what others might be feeling as we try to reconnect with them. Be gentle when communicating your boundaries to others and make sure to ask people how you can make them feel more comfortable around you.
Dream up big plans for 2021
This is the perfect time to set your goals for 2021. Hope is mankind’s greatest power and that is why it is a great idea to have big dreams for your business next year!
